Two businessmen in Mohali receive extortion calls; Rs 2 crore, share in business demanded

Mohali: Notorious gangster Goldy Brar, who is abroad, has demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from a Mohali businessman. Similary some other businessman also received a threat call and has been asked to make him a partner in his business.

Both of the businessmen received WhatsApp calls and were threatened. They were also threatened not to file a police complaint regarding this. However, Sohana police station has registered a case on the businessman’s complaint. The police have registered a case against the accused under section 308 of the IPC. A day earlier, a case of demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore from Punjabi singer R. Net had also come to light.

Sector-91 resident Mohit Grover has told the police in his complaint that he owns medical factory. On June 18, at around 3 pm, he received a WhatsApp call on his phone from a foreign number. The caller introduced himself as Goldy Brar. He also asked him to invest his share in his business. After hearing this, Mohit disconnected the call and received 10 to 15 calls from the same number.

After this, when he picked up the phone again, the caller said that he should take his calls seriously. The complainant also added that he was told not to complain to police, and if he did, his family would suffer.

Similarly, Sector-78 property dealer Basant also received a call from a foreign number. He was asked to pay an extortion of Rs 2 crore. The caller identified himself as Goldy Brar. He was also threatened with death. The property dealer also lodged a complaint at Sohana police station.

Remember that this is not the first case in Mohali. Earlier also, the Mohali mayor’s friend had received extortion calls. Apart from this, another businessman has also received a call. Punjabi artist Gippy Grewal received extortion calls by Gangster Dilpreet Bawa himself.
