A two-day session of the Punjab Assembly is starting from today (24 February). The session, which is happening just before the budget session, is expected to be tumultuous. The opposition parties will try to corner the government on issues like law and order, youth being deported from America and drug addiction. During this, tribute will be paid to 12 personalities, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away in the past. After this, the session will move forward.
During this session, tribute will be paid to former minister Dharmpal Singh Sabharwal, former minister Ajaiv Singh Mukhmelpur, former Rajya Sabha member Harvinder Singh Hans Pal, former MLA Joginder Pal Jain, former MLA Sukhwinder Singh Buttar, former MLA Bhag Singh, freedom fighters Karnail Singh, Kikkar Singh and Kehar Singh and artist Jarnail Singh.
After this, reports of various departments will be presented in the assembly. In these, the committee related to Panchayati Raj institutions will present the report. After this, the second detailed report of the committee on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) will be presented.
The third detailed report of the committee for effective implementation of Panchayati Raj system in Punjab on the lines of Kerala state and the fourth detailed report on cleaning of village ponds on the basis of Sechewal model and sanctification of the holy Kali Bei in Sultanpur Lodhi will be presented.
