Jagraon: Police have arrested two drug smugglers in Jagraon. Both of them became friends in jail and started drug-smuggling businesses after getting bail. Police said that both accused were waiting for customers to supply heroin. 40 grams of heroin were recovered from them, and a case has been registered at the Sadar Raikot police station.
The accused have been identified as Karamjit Singh, alias Karamu, a resident of Akhara village, and Paramjit Singh, alias Dharam, a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Raikot. Giving information about the case, ASI Sukhdev Singh said that he was checking near the Bassian village bus stand while patrolling with the police team. During this time, he received secret information that both the accused had been doing drug smuggling business for a long time and supplying heroin in nearby villages. Even at this time, the accused are standing near the bus stand in Binjal village in a car to supply drugs and are waiting for customers.
As soon as the police got the information, they raided the spot and caught the accused along with the car. During this, when the police searched the accused, they recovered 40 grams of heroin from them. Taking immediate action in this regard, the police registered a case at the Sadar Raikot police station. The police presented both the accused in court and started further interrogation. More revelations are expected during the investigation.
Investigating officer Sukhdev Singh said that during interrogation, the accused told them that several cases of drug smuggling were registered against them earlier as well. Due to this, they have also gone to jail many times. Both of them met in jail and became friends. After getting bail from the jail, they started the business of drug smuggling together. The police are searching the mobile phones of the accused and finding out their network.
