Two youths swept away in Sutlej River during Ganpati idol immersion, one identified

Ludhiana: There is news of two youths being swept away in the Sutlej River in Ludhiana, Punjab last night at around 10 pm. But as per the local police there is confirmation of only one youth being swept away. As soon as the information about youths swept in the river was received, search operation was started. Divers continued to search for them till late night but nothing was found.

According to the information, they had gone to immerse the idol of Ganpati Bappa in the Sutlej river, and they sept away with the strong current of river.

While returning, when their companions found their fellow youths missing, they started search of them. People informed the police of Ladowal police station about this. With the help of divers, they started searching for them in the river but nothing has been found yet.

One youth has been identified as Harsh Mehra alias Babbu, a resident of Kila Mohalla Gali No. 1 area while the other youth is yet to be identified. Babbu works in a hosiery factory in Shivpuri. It is learned that he has gone missing from near Peer Baba’s Dargah built in the Sutlej river. Giving information, SHO of Ladowal police station Harpreet Singh said that a young man named Harsh has been found missing and diver teams are searching for him.
