Nawanshahr: In the village Ramraipur of Nawanshahr, Punjab, a youth was attacked and killed with axes and other weapons due to a dispute over a transaction of just two hundred rupees. The police have taken the body of the deceased into custody and sent it for a postmortem.
According to the information, 35-year-old Vijay Kumar alias Kalu, a resident of village Ramraipur, was having a dispute with Satnam Singh alias Shama, a resident of the same village, over money transactions. It is said that Satnam had to take his two hundred rupees from Vijay. There have been two disputes on this matter earlier as well.
The deceased’s mother, Bimla Devi, told the police in her complaint that she has two sons and a daughter. One son, Mukhtiyar Singh, has gone abroad, and the younger son, Vijay Kumar, alias Kalu, used to work as a labourer. On July 30, Vijay Kumar told his mother that he had an argument with Satnam Singh, alias Shama, son of Angrez Chand, a resident of Mazara Khurd, and he had threatened to kill him.
But his son did not pay attention, and the next day, i.e., till late evening of July 31, when Vijay Kumar did not come home, the family went out in the village to look for him and saw near the motor of Pamme of the village that Satnam Singh, alias Shama, son of Angrez Chand, was standing with a Gandasa in his hand. Along with him were Angrez Chand, son of Malikyat Ram, who had a dagger in his hand, and Angrez’s grandson, Avneet Kumar, son of Balveer Chand, resident of Ludhiana Mazara Khurd; Gulshan Kumar, son of Rajkumar resident of Mazara Khurd, who had a Gandasa in his hand; and Sunil Kumar, son of Bhajan Lal resident of Mazara Khurd, who had a stick in his hand, and all of them together were beating Vijay Kumar. Seeing Vijay’s family, the attackers fled from the spot.
Vijay Kumar, who was injured in the attack by the assailants, was taken to Civil Hospital Nawanshahr for treatment, where doctors declared him dead. Police have registered a case against these five attackers and have started searching for the said accused. Police have taken the body into custody, sent it for a postmortem, and have started searching for the accused.
