“Balbir singh elected senior Deputy Mayor, Malkeet Singh as Deputy Mayor”
Jalandhar: After winning majority of seats in Jalandhar Municipal polls and a support from congress, BJP and independent candidate who won municipal polls the AAP on Saturday announced its mayor, deputy mayor who takes oath in the presence of all the newly elected councilors of the civic body at Red Cross Bhawan, Jalandhar.
The party has elected Balbir Singh Dhillon as Senior Deputy Mayor of the MCJ while Malkeet Singh was elected as Deputy Mayor after their names were proposed by the councillors, followed by thumping consent from the majority.
AAP councilor Gurminder Singh acted as presiding officer of the elections.
Earlier, Commissioner of Jalandhar Division Mr. Arun Sekhri administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly electedcouncilors. Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Mr. Gautam Jainwelcomed all the dignitaries.
Earlier today in a post on X, wrote “At the same time, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor have also been appointed. Balbir Singh Bittu has been given the responsibility of senior deputy mayor. Also, councilor Malkeet Singh from ward number 38 has been made the deputy mayor. A consensus has been reached on the three leaders in the House meeting.”
The oath cermoney was attended by the prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, MLAs Balkar Singh, Raman Arora, Pargat Singh, Bawa Hanery, and Sukhwinder Kotli.
Pertinent to mention, AAP won 38 seats in Municipal corporations held last month after which the party get support from BJP, Congress and independent candidates which increased its strength to 45.
