War of words between Congress’s Charanjit Channi and BJP’s Ravneet Bittu, Lok Sabha adjourned for 30 mins

The Lok Sabha was temporarily adjourned for 30 minutes on Tuesday following a heated verbal spat between Congress member Charanjeet Singh Channi and BJP’s Ravneet Singh Bittu. The confrontation erupted over certain personal remarks exchanged during a debate on the Union Budget.

Watch Here:

Charanjit Channi, Member of Parliament from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat participated in the discussion of the Budget. The attack that started with criticism of the government ended with a personal attack on none other than Ravneet Bittu, former congress leader who switched to BJP days ahead of elections.

Channi making mention of the budget said that it was a ‘discriminatory budget’ and Centre government showed step-motherly behavior towards Punjab. Later making a personal attack on MoS Ravneet Bittu, Channi said that Bittu’s grandfather who is also former Chief Minister of Punjab Beant Singh was martyred but he died the day Bittu switched to BJP from Congress.

The situation intensified as Ravneet Bittu responded to the attacks by Jalandhar MP. Provoked Bittu said that his grandfather died for the country and not for the congress. Making a scathing attack, Bittu alleged that Channi is a corrupt politician and one of the richest men in Punjab.

The verbal spat intensified as the BJP member Sandhya Ray who was at the chair called to adjourn the proceedings until 2 pm. The ugly war of words between former CM and now MP from Jalandhar and Minister of State caused uproar in the house.
