Amritsar: Resident succumbs to heart attack in Dubai, family receives body after 18-month wait

Amritsar: A young man from Amritsar went to Dubai one and a half years ago to earn a living for his family. From where his body returned in a coffin. The family was inconsolable. The body of Mohammad Rafiq, son of Mohammad Satar, a 38-year-old resident of Mohli Khurd village near Malerkotla, reached Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport Amritsar from Dubai late last evening. He died of a heart attack.

Sharing information in this regard, Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi said that Mohammad Rafiq came to Dubai as a wood craftsman about one and a half years ago after working in various Gulf countries with a dream of a better future. He died of a heart attack on July 19.

Dr. Oberoi said that he was informed about this incident by the Indian Embassy. After this his team from Malerkotla found the victim’s family and informed them about the tragedy that happened to them. Dr Oberoi said that after informing the family of the deceased, he sent the body of Mohammad Rafiq to India after completing all the necessary paperwork with the help of the Indian Embassy in Dubai under the supervision of his secretary, Baldeep Singh Chahal. He said that the expenses of sending the body to India have been borne by the Indian Embassy.
