The body of a 23-year-old youth was found on Tuesday in a vacant plot located on Basti Danishmanda Road under suspicious circumstances. A syringe, a water bottle and a motorcycle were also lying near the body. People present at the spot say that the youth died due to drug addiction.
The deceased has been identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Karan, resident of the village Gillan. As soon as the information was received, the police of police station Basti Bawa Khel reached the spot and took the body into custody, and sent it to the civil hospital for post-mortem.
Shopkeepers nearby called the police after finding the body
Deepak and Rahul, present at the spot, said that they were passing through Basti Danishmanda Road in the morning, when they saw the body of a young man lying in an empty plot. A water bottle and syringe were also kept near the wall. After this, they called the shopkeepers nearby and informed the police control room. Local people said that young men who consume drugs often come to this empty plot. People suspect that Jaskaran also died due to drug overdose.
ASI said- the deceased used to work as a painter
Investigating officer ASI Neela Ram, who reached the spot, identified the body and informed the family. Jaskaran’s mother said that he used to work as a painter and was ill for the last few days. On Tuesday, he went to work as usual, but did not return. They received information from the police that their son’s body was found in an empty plot near Basti Danishmanda.
