Youth dies of drug overdose in Jalandhar, family demands action

A youth died of drug overdose near Bhargava Camp in Jalandhar. The incident took place on Sunday night. After the death of the youth, former MLA and senior BJP leader Sheetal Angural reached the young man’s house and expressed grief. He demanded justice and asked the Aam Aadmi Party state government and police to take action against the accused. Angural even said that last rites of the boy will not be performed till accused drug smugglers are arrested.

The deceased youth has been identified as Paras Bhagat, a resident of Mohalla Raj Nagar, Basti Bawa Khel. The youth’s health deteriorated due to drug addiction. He was admitted to the hospital for treatment yesterday.

Regarding this, a day earlier, former MLA Angural had gone live and said that drugs are being sold in the area and a young man is undergoing treatment due to drug overdose. Paras who was undergoing treatment died last night.

Former MLA Sheetal Angural said that the family has appealed that until any government representative or the police assures them of action against drug smugglers, they will not perform Paras’s last rites.

The family has appealed to the area’s MLA and Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat that the drug being sold in their area will be stopped.
