A case of the murder of a youth by shooting has come to light in Kapurthala, Punjab. The deceased has been identified as Navjot Kumar (23) of village Gandwa of Phagwara sub-division. He was released on bail from jail a few days ago.
SHO Hardeep Singh of police station Satnampura reached the spot with the police team. Police have sent the body to the civil hospital of Phagwara for a postmortem. The police are investigating. The murderers have not been traced yet.
According to the information, the incident took place at 7:30 pm. Navjot had gone out to get milk on his Activa. Then three attackers riding on a bike attacked him. One attacker shot Navjot 6 bullets. The bullets hit his head, chest and waist. He died on the spot.
The attackers were wearing helmets, due to which they could not be identified. According to DSP Phagwara Bharat Bhushan, this case is related to an old rivalry. Navjot had killed a partner of the attackers a few years ago, due to which he was in jail.
He died before reaching the hospital
Dr Ashish Jetley, posted on emergency duty at the Civil Hospital, said that during duty, ASI Manjit Singh of Satnampura police station brought the dead body of a youth from village Gandhwa. According to the police, the youth died due to bullet injury. Further action in the case is being taken by the police.
