The credit for the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance in Delhi—and subsequently its victory in Punjab—is attributed to two distinct models. The first is the Healthcare Model, which offers free medical treatment and diagnostic facilities to the general public through ‘Mohalla Clinics.’
The second is the Education Model, which embodies a commitment to upgrading government schools to bring them on par with private institutions, thereby ensuring that children from underprivileged backgrounds can access the same standard of education available to children from affluent families. In Punjab, the government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann further refined this Education Model and successfully implemented it across the state.
A primary focus was placed on addressing the critical infrastructure needs of government schools, specifically by improving their buildings and sanitation facilities.To elevate the standard of government schools, the administration has also established ‘Schools of Eminence.’ These Schools of Eminence are currently operational, catering specifically to meritorious students. The Mann government has now completed four years in office in Punjab.
Throughout this tenureincluding the most recent yearvarious initiatives have been actively pursued to enhance the quality of education within government schools. A direct outcome of this policy is evident in the examination results, where government schools have outperformed their private counterparts.
