Toll plazas in Punjab will be free for five hours today. The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha has decided to stage a protest at all toll plazas in the state and make them toll-free from 11 AM to 4 PM, demanding the release of Sikh prisoners. The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha has also sought cooperation from other allied organizations.
The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha says that they have been struggling for a long time, but the central government is not releasing the Sikh prisoners. They said that in protest, they have decided to make toll plazas across the state free. Several farmer organizations are supporting this struggle.
On the appeal of the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha, Dilbagh Singh, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Union, announced that the Ladhowal toll plaza in Ludhiana and the Neelon toll plaza near Samrala will be made free for five hours. He said that members of his organization will be present at every toll plaza along with the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha.
Struggle by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha
The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha has been continuously struggling for the release of Sikh prisoners and demanding justice in the 2015 sacrilege incidents and the Behbal Kalan firing cases. The Morcha has been holding a permanent protest in Mohali since January 2023. Morcha supporters have marched towards Chandigarh and held demonstrations. They also protested against the sacrilege incidents in Bargari and the surrounding areas in 2015.
