‘Save the Vote, Save the Country’: Rahul Gandhi Urges People to Join INDIA Bloc Rally on November 1

Rahul Gandhi Calls for INDIA Bloc Rally on November 1 in Delhi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday called on people, especially the youth, to join the INDIA bloc’s mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha renewed his allegations of ‘vote chori’ and urged citizens to come forward to protect democracy.

Rahul also thanked the BJP and its alliance partners for promoting the planned march and helping spread awareness about the rally. He said the opposition would not remain silent over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

“Our votes are being stolen, and we will not tolerate this silently under any circumstances,” Rahul, who represents Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha, said in a post in Hindi on X.

He alleged that names had been removed from voter lists and rules and laws had been violated. He also claimed that people who raised questions had faced police action.

“Names have been deleted from voter lists. Rules and laws have been violated. And those who raised questions were met with lathis. Now, the country will respond. November 1: Chalo Delhi! Save the Vote, Save the Country: Public March and Mega Rally. Students, farmers, workers, women, youth and traders — everyone who cares about democracy must attend. The vote is yours. The fight is yours too,” he added.

INDIA Bloc Plans Mega Rally at Ramlila Maidan

The INDIA bloc has scheduled its mega rally for November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. Opposition leaders have described the event as the culmination of their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march against alleged ‘vote chori’ and irregularities in the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The Congress, which leads the opposition alliance, has said it expects at least one lakh people to attend the rally. The party believes the gathering will send a strong message to the Centre over its allegations concerning the electoral process.

The opposition has repeatedly raised concerns over voter list revisions and alleged irregularities. The Election Commission’s role in the process has also become a major point of political debate.

BJP Criticises Rally Date, Cites 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots

The BJP has criticised the Congress over the planned rally. The opposition party has also faced objections from trade organisations, which have urged it to call off the march, citing possible disruption to business activities.

The BJP has separately accused the Congress of choosing November 1 to hurt the sentiments of Sikhs affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad raised the issue on Saturday while criticising Rahul Gandhi’s decision to go ahead with the rally.

“Rahul Gandhi is adamant and not ready to listen to anybody. In a very calculated manner, Rahul Gandhi is trying to rub salt into the wounded sentiments of the Sikhs by insisting he will hold the rally on November 1. He is bent on playing a cruel joke on Sikhs,” Prasad said.

With the rally approaching, the political dispute over alleged voter list irregularities and the choice of date has added to the confrontation between the Congress and the BJP. The November 1 gathering is expected to be a key event in the INDIA bloc’s campaign against what it describes as ‘vote chori’.
