Rajasthan: Amid the ongoing heatwave in Rajasthan, temperatures witnessed a slight drop in several districts, including Jaisalmer, Churu, Bikaner, Bhilwara and Kota. In some areas, temperatures even came close to or slightly below normal levels.
However, residents continued to struggle with intense heat and hot winds, with little relief from the harsh weather conditions.
The Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave and severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue in the state for the next week, especially after May 24.
At the same time, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected at isolated places in north-eastern Rajasthan over the next two days.
Weather Department Predicts Heatwave To Continue
According to Meteorological Centre Jaipur Director Radheshyam Sharma, a weak western disturbance may affect parts of the state from today.
Its impact is likely to be seen in districts such as Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu and Jhunjhunu, where light rainfall and thunderstorms may occur.
Despite the possibility of rain, temperatures are expected to remain high across most regions.
Sri Ganganagar Hottest In The State
Over the past 24 hours, most parts of Rajasthan witnessed clear skies and strong sunshine from early morning. Heatwave conditions were recorded in several areas of the Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions.
Sri Ganganagar remained the hottest district in the state with a maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius.
Jaipur, Kota, Sikar Continue To Suffer Extreme Heat
In Jaipur, residents faced scorching heat and strong sunlight throughout Thursday. The maximum temperature touched 42 degrees Celsius, while hot surface winds made conditions uncomfortable during the day. Roads remained relatively empty during afternoon hours as people avoided stepping outdoors.
In Kota, the mercury hovered around 43 degrees Celsius. Public water coolers across the city remained crowded as people searched for relief from the extreme heat. Forest workers at Abheda Biological Park were also seen spraying water on animals to help them cope with the weather.
Meanwhile, Sikar continued to witness intense heatwave conditions. Temperatures reached 42.7 degrees Celsius, while residents struggled with rising heat throughout the day. Students attending coaching classes faced major difficulties during afternoon hours due to the scorching sun.
Udaipur, Alwar And Jodhpur Also Record High Temperatures
Udaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius, with hot winds affecting normal life. Residents experienced extreme heat even before noon, while many used umbrellas to protect themselves from the harsh sunlight.
In Alwar, temperatures touched 44 degrees Celsius. Although a light breeze in the evening brought some relief, people largely stayed indoors during the day to avoid the heatwave.
Jodhpur recorded a maximum temperature of around 42 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels remained high, and the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for the coming days as temperatures are expected to rise further.
Residents Advised To Stay Cautious
Authorities have advised residents to avoid going outdoors during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and heatstroke.
Experts have also highlighted the importance of water conservation during summer, as water consumption increases significantly for drinking, bathing, cooking, and daily household activities.
