Rajasthan transfers SPs of 22 districts

The Rajasthan government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the police department, transferring the Superintendents of Police (SPs) in 22 districts as part of a large-scale reorganisation of the state’s law-enforcement leadership. The transfer orders were issued late Friday night by the state’s Home Department.

Overall, 64 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers were transferred or given new postings in the latest reshuffle. The move is considered one of the most significant administrative changes in the Rajasthan Police in recent months and is aimed at strengthening governance and improving policing efficiency across districts.

Major administrative reshuffle across districts

The reshuffle affected several districts across the state, with new officers being posted as SPs to lead district police forces. Officials said the transfer list includes officers of different batches who will now take charge of law-and-order responsibilities in their new districts.

Among the prominent changes, Narendra Singh was posted as SP of Barmer, Mridul Kachawa as SP of Bikaner, Amrita Duhan as SP of Udaipur, Roshan Meena as SP of Nagaur, and Harsh Vardhan Agarwala as SP of Ajmer.

The government periodically carries out such transfers to maintain administrative balance and ensure effective policing across the state.

Changes also in Jaipur police commissionerate

The reshuffle also brought changes in the Jaipur Police Commissionerate, with several senior officers receiving new assignments.

In one key posting, Ajay Singh was appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Jaipur, replacing Manish Agarwal, who has been transferred to the intelligence wing at police headquarters.

Other appointments in Jaipur include:

These postings are expected to strengthen policing operations in the state capital.

Promotions and new responsibilities

In addition to district-level changes, several officers were also promoted or assigned higher responsibilities. According to officials, nine officers who previously served as SPs were promoted and appointed as Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) in the new transfer list.

Promotions and transfers are often part of routine administrative restructuring aimed at recognising seniority and ensuring effective leadership across police ranges and districts.

Aim to improve law-and-order management

Government officials indicated that the large-scale reshuffle is intended to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen law enforcement and bring fresh leadership to key districts.

The Rajasthan Police functions under the state Home Department and is responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crime and ensuring public safety across the state.

Administrative reshuffles are a common practice in policing systems, allowing the government to deploy experienced officers where they are most needed.

Transfers part of regular administrative process

Police officials stated that such large-scale transfer orders are part of routine administrative management and help bring new perspectives to policing in different districts.

With new SPs taking charge in 22 districts and several senior officers assuming new roles in the state police hierarchy, the Rajasthan government hopes the reshuffle will strengthen security management and improve overall policing across the state.
