Rajasthan: The monsoon season in Rajasthan has been weak so far this year. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall has been 18 percent below normal so far. Light rain is expected in 19 districts on Friday.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for 17 districts on July 20th. Monsoon activity is also expected to resume. Due to the lack of rainfall, temperatures have risen in some districts, including Jaipur.
On Thursday, Churu recorded a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius. Bikaner recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Sriganganagar had been at the top for the past few days, but after Thursday’s 17 mm of rain, the temperature dropped below 40 degrees Celsius.

Shifted Monsoon Trough: According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough has currently shifted northward, toward the Himalayas. Today, this trough is passing through Jammu, Bareilly, and Daltonganj. On Thursday, a Well Marked Low Pressure Area (WML) existed over the Odisha and West Bengal coasts of eastern India. Due to this seasonal shift, monsoon conditions remain weak in Rajasthan.

Rain likely in these districts today: Many parts of Rajasthan will experience a change in weather on July 17. Rain is likely in the districts of Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal-Tijara, Alwar, Deeg, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Sirohi, Udaipur, Salumbar, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Baran, and Jhalawar.
Jaipur Records Rainfall Deficit
Very little rain in Jaipur: For the past 11 days, Jaipur has not received even a single mm of rain, causing the rainfall figure to drop below average. If we talk about the city, so far, 135 mm of rain has fallen in the months of June and July. 80 mm of rain was recorded in June and 55 mm in July, whereas 180 mm of rain is considered the average rainfall in July. In the last 10 years, less than 200 mm of rain fell in July four times.
Monsoon to Strengthen Again From July 21
Monsoon to reactivate from July 21st: Amid the weakened monsoon in the state, rain activity will increase again from July 21st. Thunderstorms and rain will begin in parts of Kota, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions in eastern Rajasthan on July 21st. Rainfall will then intensify in the western and central parts of the state from July 22nd-23rd.
