Mumbai: Actress Raveena Tandon marked National Handloom Day by expressing her support for India’s weavers and artisans, saying they play a vital role in preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship.

Taking to social media, the actress shared a heartfelt message appreciating master weavers and encouraged people to embrace locally made textiles and support India’s handloom industry.

Raveena backs Swadeshi and local artisans

Sharing a series of photographs of herself wearing handloom sarees, Raveena wrote, “Swadeshi was built on the idea of standing by our own people, and that starts with our master weavers. Wearing local today with gratitude for the hands that keep our culture alive. #NationalHandloomDay.”

Her post highlighted the beauty of handcrafted Indian textiles while recognising the dedication of artisans who continue to keep traditional weaving practices alive.

12th National Handloom Day observed

India celebrated the 12th National Handloom Day on August 7, honouring the country’s centuries-old weaving traditions and recognising the contribution of handloom artisans. The day also commemorates the Swadeshi Movement, launched on August 7, 1905, which encouraged the use of Indian-made products.
