Ravneet Bittu Detained At PAU Over Alleged Egg, Tomato Throwing Bid At CM Mann’s Convoy

Update: BJP leader Ravneet Bittu was detained by Ludhiana Police on Saturday after he allegedly tried to throw eggs and tomatoes at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s convoy during a protest near Punjab Agricultural University. The incident occurred as Mann was arriving at the university, with Bittu protesting against the AAP government and displaying a liquor bottle during the demonstration.

Ludhiana: BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday staged a dramatic protest against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, allegedly throwing eggs and tomatoes towards his convoy and holding up a liquor bottle while targeting the AAP government.

Bittu staged the protest outside Gate No. 8 of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana, ahead of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s arrival at the university. He also referred to the eggs and tomatoes that he said were thrown at his convoy during Friday’s confrontation near Batala.

While holding the liquor bottle, Bittu targeted Mann and said, “Let Kejriwal rule Punjab from Delhi,” referring to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Bittu Links Protest To Friday’s Convoy Clash

The Saturday protest came a day after Bittu alleged that his convoy was attacked while he was travelling towards Pathankot for the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’.

Bittu had alleged that people gathered near Ghasitpura village on the Amritsar-Pathankot highway and threw eggs and stones at his convoy. He also alleged that some people involved in the incident were linked to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.

Bittu further claimed that three people were detained by his security personnel following the incident and alleged that a mobile phone recovered from one of them contained conversations with AAP functionaries.

These claims were made by Bittu and have not been independently established.

‘Gifts’ Liquor Bottle To CM Mann

During Saturday’s protest, Bittu held up a liquor bottle and described it as a “gift” for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

He also carried eggs and tomatoes, referring to the items he said had been thrown at his convoy a day earlier.

Bittu used the protest to attack the Mann government and AAP leadership, saying that Mann should focus on drinking while Kejriwal runs Punjab from Delhi.

BJP-AAP Face-Off Escalates Over Drug-Free Punjab Yatra

The latest confrontation comes amid a political clash between the BJP and AAP over the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’.

The BJP has launched the campaign against drug abuse in Punjab, while Bittu has accused the ruling party of creating obstacles for the yatra.

The alleged attack on Bittu’s convoy on Friday and Saturday’s protest have further intensified the political exchange between the two parties, with Bittu accusing AAP-linked individuals of being behind Friday’s incident.

The allegations regarding the involvement of AAP workers remain subject to investigation.
