Iran refuses negotiations under threat, says Reza Amiri Moghadam

Washington: Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has said that Tehran will not negotiate under any pressure or threat. He described this as a fundamental principle of the country.

Tensions rise amid ceasefire

This statement comes at a time when the ceasefire, which came into effect on April 8, remains fragile. Efforts to hold talks between Tehran and Washington, brokered by Pakistan, are ongoing, but Iran’s participation in the next round remains unclear.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also said that the country will not accept talks “under the shadow of threats.”

Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi described the US’s “provocative actions” and ceasefire violations as an obstacle to peace talks.

Uncertainty Remains Over Talks

According to reports, Iran has set certain conditions for participating in the talks. US actions, the naval blockade, and a rigid stance are considered major obstacles to the negotiations.

Iran has made it clear that it will decide on the future diplomatic process only after considering its national interests and security.
