Mumbai: Actress-producer Richa Chadha has launched her new show ‘Musafiri’, which explores Mumbai’s history, culture and lesser-known stories. The actress said the city is filled with narratives that people have grown up around but rarely stopped to explore.
The first episode explores the city’s history, culture and some of its surprising secrets, including an unexpected connection between Kim Kardashian and Kala Ghoda, one of South Mumbai’s well-known areas.
Richa Chadha Explores Mumbai’s Hidden Stories
In the show, Richa explores the origins of Mumbai and shares stories surrounding some of the city’s Gods and Goddesses, including Maa Mahalaxmi, who is considered the Mother Goddess of Mumbai.
“Mumbai has so many stories that we have grown up around but never really stopped to explore. With Musafiri, I wanted to discover those unique and unheard sides of the city and share them with people,” Richa said.
The episode also takes viewers to one of Mumbai’s oldest Armenian churches and explores the history of the Gateway of India, including the reasons behind its construction.
‘Musafiri’ Aims To Offer A Different View Of Mumbai
Richa said she hopes the show will encourage even people who have lived in Mumbai for years to see the city from a different perspective.
“I hope that even those who have lived in Mumbai all their lives will look at the city differently and feel like they are discovering a new Mumbai,” she said.
The first episode of ‘Musafiri’ is scheduled to be released on the show’s YouTube channel, Phullstop, on Friday evening.
Richa Chadha’s Recent Acting Projects
On the acting front, Richa was last seen in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Set in Lahore’s Heera Mandi during the Indian independence movement, the series follows the lives of tawaifs and explores their personal and political struggles during British colonial rule.
The ensemble cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal and Taha Shah Badussha.
In films, Richa was last seen in ‘Fukrey 3’, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
