Near Rishikesh, on Friday morning, a dumper suddenly went out of control and hit two concrete dividers on the roadside, after which it fell straight 20 meters down on a hut to the left.
During this, the concrete divider fell on the woman living in the hut, resulting in her death. The driver also died in this accident. Hearing people screaming, tourists ran to help and informed the SDRF and police.

1. Dumper goes out of control at Brahmanand turn – The accident happened near Brahmanand turn, which is 2 kilometers from Rishikesh, beyond the Bhadra Kali junction in Tehri. A dumper was moving at high speed from Bhadra Kali towards Brahmanand turn.
The driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle at the turn, and the dumper broke through two heavy concrete dividers placed on the roadside and fell directly into a field 20 meters below.
2. Concrete divider falls on woman sleeping in hut – The accident was so horrifying that the heavy concrete divider on the road along with the dumper also uprooted and fell on a hut on the left side below. At that time, 42-year-old Kaushalya was in the hut.
Kaushalya died on the spot after being hit by the heavy dividers. Meanwhile, the driver also died due to the dumper overturning and hitting him.
3. Tourists gave information, SDRF’s rescue operation – After the accident, screams and cries erupted at the site, hearing which the nearby tourists and local people ran to help. This information was immediately reported to the police and SDRF.
Under the leadership of Inspector Kavindra Sajwan, the SDRF team reached the site from Dhalwala. After strenuous efforts, the personnel pulled out the body of a woman trapped under heavy concrete dividers.
The police and rescue team took both bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem. The deceased have been identified as driver Farukh, resident of Bahadarpur, Laksar, Haridwar district, and Kaushalya (42), resident of Bawri, Shivpuri, Rishikesh.
At first glance, the cause of the accident is said to be the excessive speed of the dumper and the driver losing control. Munikireti police and administration are conducting a detailed investigation of the case.
