A schoolgirl lost her life in a tragic road accident near Ehju in the Jogindernagar subdivision on the Mandi-Pathankot Highway on Thursday morning. The student, who sustained critical injuries after being struck by a speeding tempo, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The deceased student has been identified as 17-year-old Anu, daughter of Punnu Ram, a resident of Baijnath. She was a student at the Government School in Ehju. It is reported that Anu was on her way to school from her maternal uncle’s house in Machkehar when the incident occurred. While crossing the road near Ehju, she was hit by a tempo.
Following the accident, locals rushed the critically injured student to the Baijnath Hospital, where she passed away during treatment. The tragedy has cast a pall of gloom over the region. Confirming the incident, Mandi SP Vinod Kumar stated that the police are investigating the causes of the accident.
