On Sonipat Road in Rohtak, near Humayunpur village, three youths riding a motorcycle robbed a driver employed by a company located on Hisar Road, making off with ₹4.39 lakh after throwing chili powder into his eyes. Akash Nath, a tempo driver and resident of Shyam Colony, has lodged an FIR at the IMT police station.
The driver informed the police that he works as a driver for Lakshmi Sales Corporation, a company situated on Hisar Road. On Friday morning, he had traveled to Sonipat in his tempo to deliver grocery supplies. He unloaded the goods at various locations across Sonipat. Furthermore, as the banks were closed, he collected the payment for the goods in cash.
Specifically, he collected ₹33,985 in cash from Prakash Bartan (Bada Bazar, Sonipat), ₹63,000 from Krishna Traders (Railway Road), ₹31,500 from Kalyan, ₹154,800 from Harija, and ₹156,000 from Kalyan (Gudmandi). In total, he had ₹439,285. He began his return journey to Rohtak in the tempo on Friday afternoon, around 4:30 PM.
Upon reaching the vicinity of Humayunpur village, three youths riding a black motorcycle overtook his vehicle and forced the tempo to a halt. They immediately threw chili powder into his eyes. Subsequently, they forcibly dragged him out of the vehicle; one of the youths punched him twice in the waist, while another snatched the keys to the tempo. They then took the ₹439,285 kept in the tempo’s dashboard and fled the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the spot and, with the assistance of FSL experts and a cyber team, examined the crime scene. A case of robbery was registered late that night.
