Rajasthan: Intense heatwave conditions continued across Rajasthan on Monday, with temperatures touching or exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in at least 12 cities. Kota emerged as the hottest location, recording a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, ahead of Barmer and Jaisalmer.
Night Temperatures Remain Unusually High
Cities like Jaipur and Phalodi are also witnessing persistent heat even during the night hours. Minimum temperatures have stayed above 26 degrees Celsius, adding to discomfort.
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for clear skies and continued heatwave conditions over the coming days.
Tourist Footfall Drops, Public Life Affected
Rising temperatures have significantly impacted daily life, with reduced tourist activity reported in Udaipur and Ajmer. Streets and popular tourist spots are witnessing fewer visitors due to the extreme heat.
In many areas, local arrangements have been made, including free drinking water facilities in markets of Udaipur and protective measures for animals in Ajmer.
In Phalodi and Barmer, residents are struggling with unusually hot nights, with minimum temperatures ranging between 27°C and 29°C.
Phalodi recorded a minimum of 28.4°C, while Barmer stood at 27.5°C. Other cities like Jaisalmer, Kota, and Alwar also reported high night temperatures, adding to the heatwave burden.
Jaipur Records Above-Normal Temperatures
The state capital Jaipur continues to experience above-normal temperatures both day and night. On Monday, the city recorded a maximum of 40°C and a minimum of 27°C, nearly 3 degrees above normal levels.
Public life has been affected, with even political gatherings seeing participants struggling under the intense heat.
Medical Preparedness in Kota Amid Heat Crisis
Kota recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42°C. In response, health authorities have ramped up preparations for heat-related illnesses.
The Kota Medical College Hospital administration has reserved 200 beds, including a dedicated 50-bed heatstroke ward, to manage heatwave patients.
Jodhpur and Ajmer Also Reel Under Scorching Conditions
Jodhpur has recorded temperatures above 40°C for several consecutive days, with clear skies intensifying the heat. The city saw a maximum of 40.7°C, leading to deserted streets during peak afternoon hours.
Meanwhile, Ajmer also remained severely affected, with tourist locations like Ana Sagar witnessing very low footfall as people avoided stepping out in the harsh sun.
