A tense situation unfolded near Shimla after the son of Naresh Chauhan, a close aide of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was allegedly attacked by unidentified men. The incident, which took place in the Mashobra area, has raised fresh concerns over safety and security in the hill state, especially involving individuals linked to political circles.
Masked attackers intercept vehicle
According to initial information, the victim, Aryan Chauhan, was travelling in his car when another vehicle suddenly blocked his way. Eyewitness accounts suggest that three to four masked men stepped out and approached his car in a threatening manner. They were reportedly carrying a pistol along with iron rods, indicating that the attack may have been premeditated.
The sudden nature of the confrontation left little time to react, as the attackers attempted to corner him on a relatively isolated stretch of road.
Quick thinking helps victim escape
Sensing immediate danger, Aryan Chauhan acted swiftly. Instead of confronting the attackers, he managed to get out of the vehicle and jumped into a nearby ditch to escape. Though he sustained minor injuries during the fall, the move is believed to have saved his life.
The attackers, possibly caught off guard by his sudden escape, did not pursue him further and fled the scene shortly after. Local residents later assisted in ensuring he received medical attention.
Police seize suspect vehicle
Police teams reached the spot soon after the incident was reported and began a search operation in the surrounding area. During the investigation, a suspected Alto car believed to be linked to the attackers was seized. Authorities are now examining the vehicle for clues, including fingerprints and any material evidence that could help identify those involved.
CCTV footage from nearby routes and checkpoints is also being reviewed to trace the movement of the suspects before and after the attack.
