Miami: Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova defeated Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini 7-6 (0), 6-1 in the Miami Open women’s doubles final to lift the title. The win marked a dominant performance against the top-seeded Italian pair.
First Sunshine Double Since 2019
With this victory, Townsend and Siniakova became the first pair since Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka in 2019 to complete the ‘Sunshine Double’ by winning both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season.
They also joined an elite list of women’s doubles teams who have achieved this feat, including Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza.
Strong Form and Growing Partnership
The duo secured their fifth title together, including two Grand Slam wins at Wimbledon 2024 and the Australian Open 2025. In the final, they won 75 percent of their first-serve points and converted five of 10 break chances.
They are set to rise to No. 3 in the Doubles Race, underlining their strong start to the season.
Ranking Gains and Future Prospects
Townsend is expected to return to the Top 5 of the WTA Doubles Rankings, while the pair continue their push towards qualification for the WTA Finals.
Errani and Paolini also showed strong form this season and are projected to climb in the rankings following their runner-up finish in Miami.
