Sinner Wins Miami Open, Completes Sunshine Double

Miami: Jannik Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 to win the Miami Open and complete the prestigious ‘Sunshine Double’. The Italian delivered a dominant performance in the final to secure the title.

First Since Federer to Achieve Feat
Sinner became the first male player since Roger Federer in 2017 to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season. He is also the first player to accomplish this without dropping a single set across the two tournaments.

He now joins an elite list of players, including Novak Djokovic, who have achieved the Sunshine Double multiple times.

Historic Run and Strong Season
The 24-year-old extended his remarkable run to 34 consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 level. He has also improved his season record to 19-2, underlining his strong form this year.

Sinner said completing the Sunshine Double for the first time was “incredible” and something he never imagined achieving.

Milestones for ATP and WTA Players
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka also completed the Sunshine Double this year. This marks only the fourth time that both an ATP and WTA player have achieved the feat in the same season.

Meanwhile, Lehecka was playing his first ATP Masters 1000 final and is set to reach a career-high ranking of No. 14. Sinner, a seven-time ATP Masters 1000 champion, now trails World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings.
