New Delhi: Congress MP Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Monday after experiencing respiratory problems. According to a statement issued by the hospital, her condition is currently stable and she is responding well to treatment.
Mild worsening of asthma due to weather and pollution
Dr. Ajay Swarup, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, stated that after a detailed medical examination, it was found that Sonia Gandhi’s bronchial asthma had slightly worsened. This worsening was due to the combined effect of cold weather and pollution in Delhi.
He said, “She was experiencing some difficulty breathing. The examination revealed a mild worsening of asthma due to the weather and pollution. As a precautionary measure, she has been admitted to the hospital for observation and further treatment. Her condition is currently completely stable.”
Positive response to treatment
According to the hospital administration, Sonia Gandhi is being treated with antibiotics and other supportive medications. Dr. Swarup stated that she is responding well to treatment and is under the close supervision of doctors.
Doctors to decide on discharge
Dr. Swarup further stated that the decision on her discharge will be made by the treating doctors based on her clinical progress. “She is responding well to treatment. Depending on her condition, a decision on discharge may be made in a day or two,” he said.
