Sonipat: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police in Sonipat, Haryana, committed suicide by shooting himself with a licensed pistol in his police quarters late last night. The deceased has been identified as Jasbir, posted at the traffic police station. Police are investigating the matter.
According to reports, ASI Jasbir shot himself with his licensed pistol late last night in the police quarters near Sonipat’s Sadar police station. Hearing the gunshot, nearby police officers rushed to the scene.
The deceased ASI, Jasbir, was a resident of Sitawali village in Sonipat. He had been a longtime police officer and was currently posted at the Traffic Police Station in Sonipat. This incident has caused grief within the police department and the deceased’s family.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police department was shaken. Senior officers immediately arrived at the scene and assessed the situation. The Sonipat City Police Station took custody of the body and sent it to the Civil Hospital, where a post-mortem will be conducted today.
Jasbir Singh was the father of two children: a daughter and a son. His daughter was married a year ago at the Sonipat Police Lines. His son is studying abroad. The cremation will take place tomorrow, after his son returns home.
The police are investigating the matter seriously. All aspects are being examined to determine the cause of the suicide. At present, no suicide note has been recovered from the scene.
