Sopore, J&K Intensifies Anti-Narcotics Drive Against Drug Abuse

Sopore, J&K: Authorities in Sopore have intensified efforts against drug abuse and trafficking by launching a major anti-narcotics campaign aimed at curbing the growing menace of narcotics in the region.

The drive is being carried out jointly by local police, civil administration, and other enforcement agencies. Officials said the initiative focuses on both strict law enforcement and public awareness to prevent the spread of drugs, particularly among the youth.

Raids and Surveillance Intensified

As part of the campaign, police teams have increased raids and surveillance operations in several sensitive areas of Sopore. Authorities are identifying suspected drug suppliers, monitoring illegal activities, and taking legal action against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.

Officials stated that special attention is being given to areas where drug-related complaints have increased in recent months.

Awareness Campaigns for Youth

Alongside enforcement action, awareness programs are also being organized in schools, colleges, and public places to educate young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Police officials and social organizations are encouraging parents and local communities to cooperate in identifying and reporting suspicious activities linked to drugs.

Authorities Stress Community Participation

Officials said tackling the drug problem requires support from society as well as law enforcement agencies. Residents have been urged to share information about drug peddlers and illegal activities to help authorities strengthen the campaign.

The anti-narcotics drive is expected to continue across other parts of North Kashmir in the coming weeks as authorities aim to reduce drug addiction and maintain public safety in the region.
