Speeding Fortuner crashes into divider in Chandigarh; driver died

A Fortuner driver died in a road accident in Chandigarh late Wednesday night. The accident occurred at the Sector-40 traffic light, where a speeding Fortuner car suddenly went out of control. The car mounted the median divider, broke through the iron railing, and collided with a WagonR coming from the opposite direction.

Immediately after the accident, passersby informed the police control room. Police from Sector 39 police station arrived at the scene and took the seriously injured Fortuner driver to the government hospital in Sector 16, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Car climbed divider

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Jaskaran, a resident of Mohali. Initial investigations revealed that the Fortuner was speeding, causing the driver to lose control. The car first mounted the divider, then broke through the iron railing, and collided with the WagonR and two other vehicles coming from the opposite direction. The WagonR had one occupant, who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

He was discharged after receiving first aid. Police said Jaskaran sustained serious injuries to his abdomen. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report. Sector 39 police have started an investigation into the matter. Local shopkeepers said that the Fortuner was traveling at a very high speed.

Due to a sudden loss of control, the car flipped three to four times, first mounting the divider, then breaking the iron railing. It then collided with an electric pole in the middle of the road. During this process, the car also damaged some other vehicles. The injured driver was immediately taken to the hospital by the police, where he died during treatment.
