India’s team will not go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy to be held in February 2025. As per sources, BCCI will ask ICC to hold India’s matches either in Dubai or in Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan. News agency ANI has given this news quoting BCCI sources. BCCI has not yet given an official statement on this but it is confirmed that the Indian team is unlikely to go to Pakistan.
Earlier last year, India did not go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup series last year. India’s matches were then held in Sri Lanka in that situation.
Champions Trophy
The Champions Trophy 2025 will be played from February 19 to March 9 next year, with March 10 being the reserve day for the final. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent the draft of 15 matches of the tournament to the ICC. The ICC will approve this schedule only after getting consent from the boards of the 8 teams participating in the tournament.
Pakistan may face its biggest rival India in Lahore on March 1, 2025. However, BCCI has not yet given its consent for this match. A senior member of the ICC board gave this information to PTI on Wednesday.
This will be the first time since 1996 that Pakistan will host a major ICC tournament. However, the PCB hosted the entire Asia Cup in 2008 and some of the matches of the Asia Cup were held in Pakistan last year as well.
