Double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker will be India’s flag bearer in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. An official of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) told News agency PTI that Manu has been chosen as the flag bearer of the Nation. She has performed brilliantly and achieved the feat which no one has ever in the history.
Manu Bhaker, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, created history in the Paris Olympics. Manu won bronze in the women’s individual 10-meter air pistol and in the mixed event with Sarabjot Singh. She is the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics.
Manu Bhaker also participated in a third event of 25m Air pistol but missed the medal in the Paris Olympics. She finished fourth in the women’s 25 meter pistol event. She was eliminated after losing in the shootout for the third position with Hungary’s Veronica. Manu managed to hit 5 out of 5 shots only once in 8 series. She hit 28 out of 40 shots in total. With this, his dream of scoring a hat-trick of medals at the Paris Olympics remained unfulfilled.
The closing ceremony of Paris Olympics will be held on August 11. So far, India has clinched three medals, all bronze and all in the shooting events. It is expected that in coming days, more medals would be won by the players of India.
