The first match of Thursday in ICC T20 World Cup will be played between Uganda and Papua New Guinea. This match will be played at 5 am (Indian time) at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Uganda, playing its first T20 World Cup, will face each other for the first time in a T20 tournament.
Both these teams of Group C have lost their first match. However, Papua New Guinea gave a tough fight to West Indies in the first match. Captain Assad Vala gave an all-round performance.
At the same time, many records were registered in Uganda’s name due to poor play. The team was all out for just 58 runs against Afghanistan. This was the fourth lowest total of the T20 World Cup.
Uganda has made it to the World Cup by performing brilliantly in the Africa Qualifier. They defeated Zimbabwe in the Qualifier. Therefore, there are expectations from them to do well.
The first clash was in the last World Cup Qualifier
There was only one clash between Papua New Guinea and Uganda in T20. In this, PNG team won by 8 wickets. Playing first, Uganda scored 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In response, captain Assad Wala played an unbeaten innings of 93 runs and won the match for the team with 8 wickets remaining.
