Rajasthan’s Wushu player dies in Chandigarh University: suffers heart attack while playing

Chandigarh: During the All India Inter-University Wushu Championship being held at Chandigarh University (Ghaduan), Rajasthan University player Mohit Sharma died during the match. Mohit was fighting in the 85 kg weight category. During this time, he suddenly fell on the mat.

The referee and other officials tried to wake him up, but when he did not wake up, he was immediately taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Mohit was a student of Vivek PG College in Kalwad, Jaipur.

Pramod Singh, Secretary of Rajasthan University Sports Board, has confirmed the death of the player. In the initial investigation, the cause of death is believed to be a heart attack. However, the exact cause will be known after the postmortem.

Rajasthan sports officials maintained silence

In this case, Rajasthan University team manager Helalal Chaudhary, Rajasthan Wushu Association president Hiranand Kataria and Rajasthan Sports Council coach Rajesh Taylor refused to say anything. It is being said that the university team was selected by coach Rajesh Taylor.

The video of the fight surfaced

A video of Mohit’s match has also surfaced, in which he was facing his opponent. In this video of about 4 minutes, Mohit is seen suddenly falling on the mat. The officials and medical team present on the spot tried to save him, but he became unconscious.

After the incident, the police and the university administration have informed Mohit’s family. According to Ghaduan police station in-charge Kamal Taneja, “The exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem.” Meanwhile, Rahul Chaudhary and coach Hiralal took Mohit to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.
