Stir over new BCCI secretary, Here are four possible contenders for post

New Delhi: The current secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, has now become the chairman of the ICC. He will take over his post on December 1. The board is now looking for a new secretary in his place. The stir regarding new names has intensified. Apart from this, the politics of the board is also coming to the fore now. Every time there is politics at a big level for the selection of someone on a big post in BCCI.

The 93rd Annual General Meeting of the BCCI was held on Sunday. In this, the members requested Jay Shah to expedite the search for a new secretary. Although this was not the main issue of the AGM, the members openly discussed the subject. Jay Shah will remain in office till the end of November. He is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Jay Shah will leave that post as well. In his place, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi can become the president.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Delhi & District Cricket Association president Rohan Jaitley, BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, joint secretary Devjit Saikia and Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel are the main contenders for the post.

Another priority of the AGM was the nomination of two representatives from India to attend ICC meetings. Arun Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya were elected as representatives of the general body in the IPL Governing Council. Dhumal will continue as the league’s chairman at least till IPL 2025.
