T20 World Cup: Afghanistan beats Papua New Guinea; qualified for the Super-8

Afghanistan has made it to the Super-8 of the T20 World Cup. The team defeated Papua New Guinea by 7 wickets.

After winning the toss, Afghanistan decided to bowl. Batting first, Papua New Guinea was all out for 95 runs in 19.5 overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi took 3 wickets for 16 runs in a spell of 4 overs. In reply, Afghanistan chased the target by losing 3 wickets in 15.1 overs. Gulbadin Naib played an unbeaten innings of 49 runs.

Papua New Guinea innings: 4 batsmen were run out

Excellent bowling was seen from the team. Papua New Guinea scored just 30 runs in the powerplay and lost 5 wickets. After this, Chad Soper and Kipling Doriga tried to handle the innings. But, Chad Soper was run out by Noor Ahmed in the 10th over.

The highest partnership of 38 runs was between Eli Nao and Doriga for the 8th wicket. This partnership was broken by Noor Ahmed. He got Doriga LBW for 27 runs. The team could score only 95 runs in 19.5 overs. 4 batsmen of the team were run out. Farooqi took 4 wickets. Naveen Ul Haq got 2 wickets. While Noor Ahmed got one success.
