Patna (Bihar), June 23: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday called his father Lalu Prasad Yadav “Messiah of poor” after he filed his nomination for the post of national president, marking his 13th term in the position.

Tejashwi Yadav said that all party workers and leaders are delighted and hope that the party will taste success under the leadership of his father in the future.

“Messiah of the poor, Lalu ji filed his nomination for the post of national president of RJD today. There is immense joy among people. Workers of the party, leaders, and others are expressing their happiness over the nomination of Lalu Ji. He has completed 12 terms as the party’s national president. This will be his 13th term. We are all delighted. We believe that we will taste success under the leadership of Lalu ji in the time to come,” Bihar’s former Deputy CM said.
Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav arrived at the party headquarters in Patna to file his nomination for the post of party national president for the subsequent tenure.

RJD is holding party polls of its national council and state executive. Polling will be on July 5.
Lalu is set to become the party chief for the 13th time.

Lalu has been the RJD chief for 28 years, ever since the party was formed in 1997 after the split in the old Janata Dal.

“Lalu Prasad Yadav has filed his nomination for the party’s national president post today…Further process will be looked into by the officials,” said his daughter and RJD MP Misa Bharti.

The assembly election in Bihar is due this year.

Earlier, amid the speculation on the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said it has been decided and will be revealed according to the alliance’s strategy.

In an interview with ANI, when asked about the CM’s face, Yadav said, “Everything is decided. We will reveal this according to our strategy…”

On the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the RJD leader claimed that the NDA appear ‘disjointed’ in Bihar, as he claimed its leaders like Jitam Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, and Upendra Kushwaha are speaking in different voices.

He said, “People talk; they say things like the INDIA bloc doesn’t look united. But here the NDA doesn’t look like this; Jitam Ram Manhji says something else, and Upendra Kushwaha says something else, and Chirag Paswan says something else.”

Yadav further underlined the enduring alliance between Congress and RJD, saying, “Congress and RJD are the oldest alliance partners and haven’t broken yet. But still, these (NDA) people try to break it, saying that nothing is going right. Everybody knows the relationship of the RJD and the Gandhi family.”
