If you need to submit an application to get a government document made or to avail the benefits of a social welfare scheme, make sure to visit the service center and complete your task before 2 PM. Service center employees have issued an ultimatum to the Punjab government, stating they will go on strike starting at 2 PM.
The union has clarified that if salaries are not released by 2 PM, employees will initiate a “pen-down” and “computer-shutdown” strike. This will bring the operations of the service centers to a complete standstill. The union has announced that during the strike, application forms will not be accepted from the public at the service centers.
90,000 to 1 Lakh Applications Received at Service Centers
If the service center strike begins following the ongoing strike by ministerial staff, most government-related tasks for the general public will be affected. Applications for government services and documents are submitted exclusively through these service centers. In Punjab, approximately 90,000 to 1 lakh applications are received daily at these centers.
Key Services Affected by the Service Center Strike
During the strike, applications for documents such as caste, residence (domicile), income, and property certificates; birth and death certificates; and marriage registrations will not be accepted. Additionally, services such as obtaining copies of land records (*Jamabandi* and *Fard*), agreement and affidavit attestations, stamp paper-related requests, ration card modifications (adding, removing, or updating names), applications for old-age, widow, and disability pensions, driving license applications and renewals, preliminary vehicle registration (RC) tasks, and Aadhaar card enrollment and updates will also be disrupted.
Effigies of the CM and Company Management to be Burnt
The union has warned that if salaries are not released by 2 PM, employees will not only halt work but also burn effigies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the company management. Employees have also announced plans to stage protest demonstrations at all district headquarters. A final decision regarding whether to continue or call off the strike will be taken following a meeting in the evening.
