A young man was shot dead in Kapurthala in the early hours of Friday. The driver was sitting in the seat in the car, during which the attackers came and opened fire. Due to which he did not even get time to run away and he rolled on the seat.
The bullets also hit the front window of the car. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, a resident of village Jairampur. He was the right hand of gangster Sukha Kahlawan and was the last witness in the Kahlawan murder case.
Earlier, all the witnesses had turned hostile, but Gopi did not retract. On the other hand, Donnie Bal has taken responsibility for the murder by posting on social media. He wrote- This man used to take 40-40 men to the houses of our brothers. The rest of us want to tell you that those who go around talking nonsense about us, they should also be prepared.
Gopi was sitting in a car near Avon Palace.
According to the information, Gurpreet Singh was sitting in the driver’s seat of his car near Avon Palace on GT Road in Dhilwan area of Kapurthala. Meanwhile, the attackers fired at the glass of the car from the front.
The bullet directly hit Gurpreet, killing him on the spot and rolling in the driver’s seat. The attackers fired about 5 to 7 shots. Which crossed the glass of the car and hit Gurpreet in the chest.
As soon as the incident was reported, the police reached the spot. The police took the body into custody and kept it in the mortuary of Civil Hospital Kapurthala at around 3:45 am on Friday.
Donnie Ball took responsibility for the murder
On the other hand, Donnie Bal took responsibility for the murder by posting on social media. The post read, “Sat Shri Akal ji, to all my brothers. SSP said – Case is under investigation
SSP Gaurav Toora said that late at night information was received that some youths had shot at a young man sitting in a vehicle. The police reached the spot and took the injured person to the Civil Hospital, where he succumbed. The police have taken the body of the deceased into custody and, after completing the necessary legal procedures, sent it for postmortem.
Considering the seriousness of the case, different teams have been formed to speed up the investigation. Three criminal cases were registered against the deceased, including illegal weapons, dacoity, and one case related to the NDPS Act.
Kahluwan’s murder took place in 2015
The gangster Kahluwan, skilled with firing with both hands simultaneously, was involved in more than 20 cases of murder, kidnapping, and extortion. Cases were registered against him in three states. He was known by the name of a sharpshooter.
Kahluwan was shot dead on January 22, 2015, by another gang leader Vicky Gounder and his associates. The incident took place when Kahluwan was being taken to Nabha Jail in Patiala after a hearing in the court of Jalandhar.
