Karnal: Gharaunda in Karnal district may witness a major political upheaval. Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former chairman Surendra Singla has hinted at a homecoming to the BJP. A photo of him with Haryana Assembly Speaker and Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan at the Chandigarh Secretariat has gone viral on social media.
Singla himself confirmed the picture and said that he will soon return home to BJP.
Courtesy visit, but return home is certain
Surendra Singla stated that his meeting with Harvinder Kalyan was a courtesy call. Harvinder Kalyan is the MLA from his constituency and he has a long-standing friendship with him. Singla said that he was in the BJP in 2014 and will now return home. He explained that he joined the BJP in 2014 under the leadership of National General Secretary Tarun Chugh. Later, in 2022, he contested the Gharaunda Municipal Corporation election on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket.
Long Political Career Across Parties
Surendra Singla has a long political career. He has held various positions in the Congress, INLD, BJP, and Aam Aadmi Party. He served as the District Treasurer in the Congress party and, in 2010, served as the Secretary of the Haryana Trade Cell in the INLD. He then joined the BJP in 2014 and contested the 2022 elections on the AAP ticket. Singla has also served as the Chairman of the Municipal Corporation of Gharaunda.
