Mumbai: Darshan Kumar, the younger brother of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar, passed away on April 18 in Delhi. He was 70 years old. The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the music and film industry.

Singer Mika Singh was the first to share the sad news on his official Instagram account. He wrote that Darshan Kumar was a very kind and helpful person who gave many singers and new artists the opportunity to grow. Mika Singh prayed for his soul to rest in peace, writing “Om Shanti.”

Important Role in the Growth of T-Series
Darshan Kumar played a key role in the early and growth phase of T-Series. T-Series was founded by his elder brother, Gulshan Kumar, in 1983 as Super Cassettes Industries Pvt. Ltd., a company that revolutionized the Indian music industry.
While the company was later led by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Darshan Kumar played a key role in strengthening the organization in its early years. He always preferred to work away from the limelight.
T-Series’ Legacy and Gulshan Kumar’s Contribution
Gulshan Kumar played a major role in bringing Indian music to the masses. He shaped the music industry by bringing devotional music and film songs to every household.
However, on August 12, 1997, Gulshan Kumar was shot dead outside the Jiteshvar Mahadev Temple in Andheri West, Mumbai, shocking the entire nation. Even after his death, T-Series maintained its strong hold in the Indian music industry and today is one of the largest music companies in the world.
