In a disturbing incident from Telangana, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly injecting HIV-infected blood into a young woman after their planned marriage was called off. The incident occurred in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district near Hyderabad, triggering widespread outrage and concern over safety and criminal misuse of medical conditions.
According to police officials, the accused and the victim were known to each other and their families had earlier planned their marriage. However, the wedding proposal was cancelled after the woman’s family learned that the man was HIV-positive.
Marriage Called Off After Medical Test
Reports say the man underwent a medical test during pre-marital discussions, which confirmed he was infected with HIV. Following this, the woman’s family decided to cancel the marriage proposal, fearing health risks.
Police said the accused became angry after the wedding was called off and allegedly developed a plan to take revenge.
Accused Allegedly Injected HIV-Positive Blood
Investigators said the accused visited the woman’s house and forcibly injected his HIV-infected blood into her using a syringe after she refused to continue with the marriage.
After the incident, the woman reportedly fell ill and was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Doctors are monitoring her condition and conducting necessary tests.
Police Register Attempt to Murder Case
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the Pocharam IT Corridor police station registered a case against the accused. He was later arrested and booked under serious charges including attempt to murder.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to verify medical evidence and determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Case Sparks Concern and Public Outrage
The shocking case has raised concerns about personal safety, misuse of medical conditions, and the stigma surrounding HIV. Experts say such incidents highlight the need for awareness, counseling, and strict legal action against those who attempt to deliberately harm others.
Authorities have urged the public not to spread misinformation about HIV and to support awareness efforts to prevent stigma against people living with the virus.
