Punjab’s maximum temperature dropped by 0.2 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature by 0.7 degrees Celsius. However, night temperatures remained 2.8 degrees above normal. Due to a western disturbance that is expected to activate tomorrow, rain is expected over the next two days, after which temperatures are expected to drop further.
Meanwhile, despite the state’s weather returning to normal, pollution continues to suffocate. On November 2nd, 178 cases of stubble burning were reported in the state. Of these, the highest number of stubble burning incidents occurred in Ferozepur, with 29 cases reported there. Furthermore, 21 cases were reported in Tarn Taran, 20 in Muktsar, 17 in Sangrur, and 12 in Amritsar and Kapurthala.
The total number of stubble-burning incidents from September 15th to November 2nd has reached 2,262. Of these, the highest number of cases have been reported at 444 in Tarn Taran, 406 in Sangrur, 236 in Ferozepur, 224 in Amritsar, 144 in Bathinda, 136 in Patiala, and 96 in Kapurthala.
AQI crosses 400 in Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh
As cases of stubble burning increase in Punjab, pollution is also increasing at a similar pace. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of two Punjab cities, Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh, has crossed 400. On Sunday, Khanna’s AQI was 458, Mandi Gobindgarh’s was 445, and the average AQI was 307 and 320, respectively. Patiala’s AQI was also recorded at 286.
Rain is expected in three districts on November 4th
Rain is expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Hoshiarpur on November 4th. On November 5th, rain is expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, and Rupnagar. Moderate rainfall is expected during these days.
