Barnala Police have arrested three people allegedly involved in the firing at Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu’s house, police sources said. The three accused are reportedly from different parts of Punjab and had arrived at the singer’s house on a motorcycle on the night of the incident.
However, senior district police officials have not yet officially confirmed the arrests. Police officials said the entire case will be disclosed at a press conference at 1 pm today at the Barnala SSP’s conference hall. Patiala Range DIG Kuldeep Singh Chahal is also expected to attend the press conference, where the accused will be presented before the media and details of the alleged conspiracy behind the attack will be revealed.
Gulab Sidhu Was Not at Home During Firing
The incident took place between 1:30 am and 2 am on the intervening night of September 12 and 13 at Sidhu’s ancestral house in Farwahi village.
According to the information, the attackers arrived outside the house on a motorcycle and opened multiple rounds of fire. The youth sitting in the middle allegedly loaded a pistol and started firing, while the person sitting behind him also opened fire. The third accused, who was riding the motorcycle, allegedly recorded the incident.
A video reportedly shows three youths approaching the house on a motorcycle. Gulab Sidhu was not present at home at the time of the firing.
Attempt to Attack Singer Reported in January
On January 10, 2026, Barnala Police had arrested three people for allegedly plotting an attack on Gulab Sidhu. The alleged mastermind was identified as Baljinder Singh, alias Kinda, the sarpanch of Kotduna village.
According to police, the accused was angry over the lyrics of Sidhu’s song Sarpanchiyan and had also allegedly threatened the singer on social media. The accused were reportedly planning to attack Sidhu during a live show. Police had said their alleged motive was to create fear in Punjab and later extort money.
Gulab Sidhu Provided Two Security Personnel
Gulab Sidhu is known to have been a close friend of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Following Moosewala’s murder in May 2022, the security of several Punjabi singers was reviewed.
Sidhu had reportedly been receiving repeated extortion calls and death threats for some time. Based on the threats and security inputs, Punjab Police provided him with two security personnel, who have been deployed for his protection.
