Agartala: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar was found dead at his office at the Police Headquarters in Agartala on Monday.
Preliminary reports suggested that the senior IPS officer allegedly died by suicide. However, the exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be officially confirmed.
Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankhar died by suicide on Monday in his office at the Agartala police headquarters. An official stated that the 1994-batch IPS officer was immediately rushed to GB Pant Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, senior government officials, including Chief Minister Manik Saha and Chief Secretary JK Sinha, arrived at the hospital.
A Career Spanning Over Three Decades
Before becoming the Tripura police chief, he served as the DGP (Intelligence) in the state. During his distinguished career spanning more than three decades, he held several key positions within the state police and served on central deputation with the CBI and the Border Security Force (BSF).
He was also part of a United Nations mission in Kosovo, where he gained valuable experience in international policing.
