Teacher dies in Odisha's Mayurbhanj, family alleges census work pressure

FEROZEPUR: Holi celebrations turned sour in this border district after a minor scuffle between children escalated into a violent confrontation between two groups, leaving two persons dead in a firing incident.

As per information, the incident occurred today late evening when members of both sides gathered to arrive at a compromise following a fight between their children. However, during the meeting, an argument broke out which soon turned violent, and gunshots were fired, resulting in the death of two men.

The deceased have been identified as Khilara alias Munna (45), a resident of village Kadma, and Jaj Singh, a resident of village Tibbi Kalan.

He was taken to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officials SSP Bhupinder Singh, SP Detective Manjeet Singh, DSP Sukhwinder Singh and others reached a private hospital and took stock of the situation.

It is learnt that Khilara is survived by two sons and two daughters. As per information available, around eight criminal cases were reportedly registered against him in the past.

Sources said that in the evening, two groups had assembled in the village in connection with the earlier altercation. During the confrontation, shots were fired, leading to the death of Khilara. In retaliation, members of the opposite group also allegedly attacked and killed Judge Singh of the opposite party during the clash.
