UP is also in the grip of severe heat and scorching winds. For the first time this season, the temperature has crossed 47°C. In the past 24 hours, Banda has been the hottest city in the country, where the heat broke a 4-year record. The daytime temperature here was recorded at 47.4°C. Earlier, on April 30, 2022, the mercury had crossed 47°C here.
On Sunday, the sun has been shining brightly since morning. Due to holidays in offices and schools, the streets are deserted. The bears at Gorakhpur Zoo are not coming out of the water. In Varanasi, the daytime temperature has reached 45°C for the fourth time in April. Earlier, on April 30, 2019, the highest temperature of 45.3°C was recorded.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert in 55 districts today. During noon, the temperature in most cities is expected to remain between 42°C and 45°C. People are especially advised not to go outside between 12 PM and 3 PM. Special care is advised for children and the elderly.
Earlier, on Saturday, out of the country’s 41 hottest cities, 14 were in Uttar Pradesh. Banda’s temperature was recorded higher than Saudi Arabia and Jacobabad in Pakistan. The temperature recorded in Saudi Arabia was 31°C and in Jacobabad, Pakistan it was 44°C.
From Monday, that is 27th April, a new disturbance will become active. There may be scattered showers in Western UP and the Terai regions. There is also a possibility of storms. From 28th April, the rain phase will start across the entire UP. Until 1st May, fluctuations in the weather will be observed. The temperature may drop by 2–3°C.
