Over the past three days, Uttar Pradesh witnessed thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and rain. In several districts, temperatures plummeted to 10 degrees or even lower than normal levels.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature in Ballia and Gorakhpur was recorded at seven degrees below the seasonal average. The Meteorological Department states that the influence of the weather disturbance has waned since Sunday; with the spell of rain coming to an end, the weather is expected to remain dry going forward.
The department further notes that, as the intensity of sunlight increases, various parts of the state are likely to experience a rise of 7 to 10 degrees in daytime temperatures over the next seven days. In the central region (Madhyanchal), the maximum temperature recorded a single-day increase of 2 to 4 degrees.
Despite these trends, the weather remained pleasant on Sunday across the western and eastern divisions of the state. In Najibabad, the maximum temperature dropped to 26.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Kanpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 13.7 degrees Celsius, marking the coldest night in the state.
According to Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, the weather across the entire state is set to turn dry starting Monday as the Western Disturbance weakens. Furthermore, as weather conditions return to normal, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by approximately 10 degrees Celsius over the coming week.
